Hiking Play Date

Hiking Play Date

It's Friday and a special day off from school! Hooray! The cold chill left us for a few days in the midst of Fall, as if "she" can sense that we're having a short break, and "she" went off for a long weekend too! The triplets woke up without a fight and dressed "willingly", getting ready for the hiking date with their new friends from school (and mine too, with their granny and moms).

We went to the wilderness park nearby and wow, it's amazing when the kids gathered (and furkids too), for we had a pool of 10 kids and 2 doggies! The path was rocky and the summery sun, (like a diligent coworker who covers Fall's absence) was so hardworking as if he's too eager to show his potential to the new boss (ya, we all met that kind of coworkers don't we, LOL). So we left the trail upon request from the kids' constant complaints (urg, hate that), and had a picnic on the beautiful shady lower ground.

Well, the kids were happier (and furkids too), as they ran all over the grassy field, chasing the ball and dogs(!!!) Lola, a husky pomeranian mixed, who has mixed color eyes too (right hazel and  left blue), ran off from the kid's powerless grip twice! Once to chase bird and then to chase ball! What a young curious girl, as if she is experiencing "terrible two" too!

Nicole, the triplet's classmate, love Cola - our "forever young" 10 years old maltese. Thanks to her, I was granted a lot of me-time and could chat carefreely with the adults, yeah!

It was such a fun hiking (more like a play date since we didn't hike that long, haha), and can't wait for the next hiking date, well... when Fall is back from her vacation. Bye for now :)

Spooky Triplets Halloween Funny Costume

If you are in LA during Halloween, and you've kids, you MUST MUST MUST bring your kiddos to the annual Montrose Halloween Spooktacular! Held along the historical and beautiful Montrose Shopping park, stroll along the car-free street with hundreds of spooky friends, get tons of candies from friendly store owners, it a MUST-GO for us every year!

We were in cute sailor theme costume except for Daddy (who prefers to scare the kids with his bloody mask), and we had lots of fun spooking around. The night was cold but thanks to hundreds of people and brightly lit stores for warming up the air, it was not so chilly after all.

On our way home, we drop by their teacher's house (Mrs Gibney) for our last chance of treats! Thanks to her Halloween practice session earlier on during the day, the kids learn how to greet and thanks properly during trick-o-treat.

Can't wait for the next Halloween! Yipee!

Triplets Spooky Halloween Piano Recital

We had a smashing great time at Fun Music School’s Annual Halloween Party, Potluck and Recital! Recital can be fun too! There is no tuxedo, grand piano or high above the stage. We were in a cosy comfy house filled with playful teachers and students instead, and this makes the trio less nervous for their first recital! We saw Stormtroopers, Ninjas, witches, angels, and even Donald Trumps!

We brought chairs and potluck dishes, the triplets wear their favorite sailor costume, and grabbed their triplets monkeys along too! Their favorite piano teacher Ms Sara came as an angel (with wings)! Thanks to her presence, the kids were not as nervous and played their nursery songs successfully! What a fun event, we can’t wait for the Christmas recital!

Triplets Santa Barbara 1 Day Tour

It's Summer! Yeah! Grandma and Grandpa visited us from Singapore, and we had a fun 1 day tour at Santa Barbara (Greater Los Angeles Area) with the folks from church. We saw magnificent giant chalk drawings at Old Mission Santa Barbara, and took scenic photos at the beautiful Santa Barbara Pier. Charlotte took over my Nikon DSLR for awhile, and I must say, she is pretty good in capturing the "moments" (as shown in the video). Next, we went on board a tractor ride to "pick-your-own" fruits at Underwood Family Farm, woohoo! All of us were crazy over the endless field of strawberries! What a great trip!

Triplets Fun Swimming Class at YMCA!

YMCA swimming classes are so fun!!! The trios were afraid of water, scared of cold, were basically scaredy cats at the pool! Till they joined the fun swimming classes at YMCA! The creative instructors used fun and play to teach water safety and swimming techniques. Pool noodles are seahorses, giant float is a pretend boat, every lesson is a fun adventure at the "sea", haha! I enjoy watching their lessons, there's so much laughter and joy, I wish I can join them too, LOL!

Best Los Angeles Beach!

The triplets went to Redondo Beach with their favorite uncle Alex! Uncle Alex is a pilot and he visited us when he stopped over in LA. He heard about this famous beach with lots of fresh seafood, so we went to explore! Oh ma-ma-mia, what a gem! Nice big pier, gigantic waves, lots of sand and beach, and best of all, lots of fresh caught seafood at super low price!!!!! It's a must places-to-visit if you ever come to LA! Better than touristy overcrowded Santa Monica or Newport Beach.

Happy kids jogging to raise fund for the school! They started off stretching and warming up in the morning rays, then set off to run around the field. The more laps they completed within 5 min, the more $$$ they raise for the school! Woohoo! It's such a fun fun run! Yipee!!

Triplets Go Crazy with Whistle Balloons!

It was such a hot summer noon, everyone was feeling down and the triplets were frustrated with incurable  boredom... till Granny took out a pack of WHISTLE BALLOONS!!! "YIPEE!!!" They shout. I can't stop laughing at their silly giggles and enthusiasm in this child play. Their balloons mostly ended up in our neighbors' yards, ops! :P

Triplets Monkey Bar Stunt

Kids grow at such a fast pace, and before you know it, they are reaching for the stars! Last week, none of them can reach the monkey bar and were so demoralized when they saw bigger kids swinging from bar to bar. Then suddenly, one of the triplets, Asher grabbed the first bar, and the other boy, Brayden succeeded, and Charlotte followed suit, WOW! The rest is history.

Triplets Fun in Catalina Island Restaurants

Although we booked a mini suite with full service kitchenette, I was tired of cooking on the second day. Yet the internet and WIFI were in dinosaur age, so we gave up yelping reviews. We went out on the street aimlessly and came across Antonio's Pizzeria along the beach. OMG IT IS SUCH A HIDDEN TREASURE! The alfresco outdoor beach view dining is such a good experience. The kids love it too! At one point, the kids were so happily (and nosily) cheeping away while Daddy was trying to shoot the leftover bread crumb at the seagulls, everyone was at their all time high mood. But I just zone out, as I couldn't handle all of their excitement anymore, LOL!

Oh we pass by an ice cream shop in the evening and the kids got free (adult size) ice cream, because it's their birthday! It's such a huge ball of ice cream for their little mouths, LOL!

Giant Beach Chair and Sand Castle!

We went to the beach everyday while we were on the island, as the kids just love love love digging and building sand castle. They won't get tired or bored of it, and simply enjoy running the sands through their fingers and toes. I was also enjoying my mini indulgence treats on the beach while the kids played. On the first day, I bought a huge white chocolate coated ice cream cone and drank a mini bottle of sweet moscato wine, followed by a cat nap on the beach. On the second day, I bought a fancy caramel apple, munching it with the sea breeze. On the third day... oh boy, I can't remember, we were catching the afternoon ferry back, so the morning beach trip was short, but the kids had fun with the sand again. And I found this giant beach chair/deck for photo shoot, the kids climbed excitedly on it as if they are the newly promoted ship captains, LOL!

Triplets Golf Cart Escape?!

You must be kidding, people don't drive normal cars here (Catalina Island). They drive golf carts. Seriously? Yupe, that was my cynical thoughts initially, but hey, it's a tiny island with steep curvy tiny roads. Normal cars won't work here, only golf carts work! We got used to the slow "golf course" lifestyle by the second day and on our last day, we rented a cart and roamed around the island on it. Oh boy, it's so exciting! You can't imagine how exciting a tiny golf cart can be right? But it's certainly a MUST-TRY on this island and definitely worth it!

Triplets Best Submarine Ever!

On the Triplets' 5th birthday, we went for a semi submarine ride at Catalina Island! We come face-to-face with abundant marine life by cruising five feet under water in a spacious, climate-controlled cabin. All of us have our own seat and port hole and we’re free to roam about the cabin, and even out in the sun - up on the submarine!
We saw an incredible array of undersea dwellers: bright orange garibaldi, spotted calico bass, urchins, corals, just to name a few. This is more than a tour; it’s an undersea adventure!

Triplets First Catalina Flyer Ferry Ride

We heard so much about the hidden secret vacation destination - Catalina Island, that only the local SOCAL (south California) people know, so without further adieu, here we go for this wonderful vacation (as well as to celebrate the triplets' 5th birthday)! The 1 hour ferry ride from Newport Beach - Balboa Pier was unexpectedly fun as we spotted dolphins along the way. There were 3 decks to choose from, and we slowly progressed from the top to bottom as it was just too chilly in the morning. The kids were super excited, They refused to leave the deck and wanna watched the waves splashing against the ferry. The view was magnificence, and the sea was unbelievably blue. It's just so unreal, yet it's REAL!
Upon reaching, we saw big orange Garibaldi damsel fish swimming near the shore! Stay tuned for the rest of our Catalina Island adventure videos!

Triplets Sailing in The Car?!

We were on our way to Catalina Island by ferry and our car experienced the ferry ride prior to us, haha! This special auto ferry let us drive on (in our car!) and get us across the sea to Balboa pier in a short cut route instead of going via bridges which increases the travelling distance to 6 miles! While the adults (and our car) enjoyed the scenic crossing and old fashion classic pier charm, the kids are busy discussing grammar and spotting seagulls, LOL!
